How To Make Algae In Little Alchemy 1 and 2

The recipes needed to create Algae in both versions of Little Alchemy, plus the other elements it unlocks 

More than just green slime, algae is a proper plant in its own right. It just doesn’t have roots, that’s all. In the Little Alchemy games it’s used to make a few other primordial ingredients on the way to more advanced life. 

Ingredients needed to make Algae 

In Little Alchemy 1 there are 3 ways to make Algae, in Little Alchemy 2 there are 4. The principles are similar but the recipes are different, as always the second game refines the thinking process somewhat.

The quickest way to get to Algae  

Algae can be created early in the game in Little Alchemy 1, but is a more advanced element in the second game. 

The fastest way to do it takes 3 steps in Little Alchemy 1, and 9 steps in Little Alchemy 2 when using Time, or 10 without Time: 

Little Alchemy 1 

1. Water + Air → Rain 
2. Earth + Rain → Plant 
3. Water + Plant → Algae 

Little Alchemy 2 (using Time) 

You can only unlock Time after creating 100 other elements first 

1. Water + Water → Puddle
2. Puddle + Puddle → Pond
3. Pond + Pond → Lake
4. Lake + Lake → Sea 
5. Puddle + Puddle → Pond
6. Primordial soup + Time → Life
7. Earth + Life → Soil
8. Life + Soil → Plant
9. Water + Plant → Algae 

Little Alchemy 2 (without using Time) 

The fastest way to get to Algae if you don’t have the 100 elements needed to unlock Time 

1. Water + Water → Puddle 
2. Puddle + Puddle → Pond 
3. Pond + Pond → Lake
4. Lake + Lake → Sea
5. Earth + Sea → Primordial soup
6. Fire + Fire → Energy
7. Primordial soup + Energy → Life
8. Earth + Life → Soil
9. Life + Soil → Plant
10. Water + Plant → Algae 

Steps to make the necessary ingredients 

You have raw Water available straight away when starting the game. Here’s how to make everything else: 

Sea 

A salty mass with lots of light and convenient nutrients floating around. A perfect ingredient for algal growth. 

Little Alchemy 1

4. Ocean + Small 

Ocean 

A big sea that covers most of the earth’s surface is an Ocean.

Grass 

Like algae, grass is found all over the place. Mainly on land, but it will grow underwater too.

Plant 

Algal growth is plant growth, so making Algae from Plant is very logical. In LA1 there’s only one way to make Plant, but LA2 really opens up the options.

Pond 

Any large hole in the ground can flood and become a pond. Ponds are a great environment in which to grow algae.
